After the victory over terrorism in Aleppo and the expulsion of foreign-backed terrorist organizations, the agricultural sector in this province has witnessed fast recovery and active return to production.
According to Aleppo Agriculture Directorate, the damaged irrigation networks of the agricultural projects in the province have been rehabilitated to help irrigate the planted areas.
Around 108,000 hectares of agricultural land were planted with irrigated and rain-fed wheat this year, while an area of 151,000 hectares was planted with irrigated and rain-fed barley. In addition, a wide area of land was planted with yellow corn and various vegetables in implementation of the recommendations of the Agricultural Sector Forum in Aleppo during which the participants adopted the agricultural plan for this province, the directorate stated.
Eng. Radwan Harsouni, Director of Aleppo Agriculture, told SANA that means for agricultural production and plant protection have been insured for the farmers to facilitate their work and achieve good results.
He said that after the liberation of Aleppo western countryside, efforts focused on rehabilitating the agricultural infrastructure there with the aim of providing all necessary services to the farmers.
He pointed out that the directorate continues to supervise providing the farmers with agricultural grants in cooperation with international organizations, such as sheep, house gardens and poultry farms. It also provides technical support for these projects in order to help the local community improve their livelihood and enjoy stability in their areas.
