The General Commission of Damascus Hospital continues to provide biological medicines for free despite their high cost and to save the lives of patients from serious complications that may lead to disability and deformities.
According to the supervisor of the biological clinic, Dr. Abdullah Al-Najjar, biological medicines are considered a scientific revolution in the treatment of some diseases, and Syria has been able to secure them and give them to patients free of charge in hospitals.
Dr. Al-Najjar explained that biological medicines are an effective treatment for patients with autoimmune disease, rheumatism, rheumatic disease, ankylosing spondylitis and systemic lupus erythematosus, and protect against serious complications of these diseases such as loss Sight in Behçet’s disease.
Head of the Joint Division in the hospital, Dr. Wedad Aji, also mentioned that the hospital has been providing biological medicines since 2009, despite their high cost through the Ministry of Health.
Regarding the mechanism of work in the clinic, Dr. Rozan Hussein clarified that most of the patients of the biological clinic are those with chronic diseases, and treatment is prescribed to them after evaluating their condition through clinical examination, laboratory tests and x-rays.
Dr. Rozan Hussein said that there are certain medications that generate an allergic reaction to the patient, so there are preparations before giving him the dose that it is preferable to be taken after breakfast.
