Homs,(ST) – Al-Arida Forestry Nursery production in TalKalakh area in Homs countryside has nurtured 250 thousand various forest saplings in the current winter season and they are ready for distribution to the fire-affected areas in the governorate.
Engineer Yousef Shaqouf, director of the nursery, said to SANA that the nursery is ready to distribute the plants to the areas that were recently hit by the fires, especially the Nassera Forestry Project in the Wadi Al-Nasarah area in Homs countryside, where the forest wealth was severely damaged because of the fires.
He indicated that the seedlings are distributed according to two mechanisms. The first is free of charge, and it is dedicated to government projects according to a specific plan. The second is done through selling the seedlings to citizens at a price set by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.
Shaqouf pointed out that the nursery, which covers an area of about 30 dunums, produces various forest plantings, including pine, cypress, eucalyptus, laurel and carob, pointing out that preparations are underway for next year’s plan to produce 125,000 forest seedlings.
