Success in Eliminating Terrorism in Syria Deals Heavy Blow to Western Schemes in Region
DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad has underscored that success in eliminating terrorism in Syria deals a heavy blow to western schemes in the region and this is why some countries keep supporting the terrorist groups in Syria in particular and in the region in general.
The president made the remarks during his meeting on Thursday with the Iranian Army Chief of Staff, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri.
During the meeting Maj. Gen. Bagheri conveyed a message to President Al-Assad from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Khamenei congratulating him on the victories being achieved on terrorism in Syria.
President Al-Assad reciprocated by asking Bagheri to convey his thanks and greetings to Khamenei, stressing that the Iranian people and army are a key partner in these victories.
Talks during the meeting also dealt with the strong brotherly relations between Syria and Iran and the military cooperation which has witnessed notable development during the war launched by Syria and its allies, mainly Iran, on terrorism.
On his part, Bagheri said his visit aimed at drawing up a joint strategy for continuous military cooperation and coordination in the coming era after the great achievements made in the battle against terrorism.
The Iranian army chief of staff reiterated his country’s firm support for the Syrian people and leadership until security and stability is restored to the country, stressing Tehran’s readiness to provide assistance in reconstructing what terrorism has destroyed.
