President Al-Assad Stresses Need to Enhance Political Work to Fortify Anti-Terrorism Axis

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad  has stressed the importance of enhancing political work in parallel with efforts to defeat terrorism as to fortify and widen the anti-terrorism axis in the confrontation of the opposite axis which keeps trying to spread chaos and use terrorism as a tool to achieve its interests.  

President Al-Assad made the remarks during his meeting Thursday with an official Iranian delegation led by Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security at the Iranian Shoura Council Alaeddin Boroujerdi.

Talks dealt with the latest developments of the war on terrorism as well as the regional and international developments which can’t be separated from the ongoing war on terrorism in Syria.

On his part, Boroujerdi said the successive victories of the Syrian army in cooperation with its allies and friends are drawing up the start of the end of the terrorist organizations which have been used to impose the schemes of the West and the Zionist entity on the expense of the interests of the Syrian people and other peoples of the region.

The Iranian delegation affirmed Iran’s determination to continue supporting Syria not only in the fight against terrorism, but also in their battle to rebuild their country, asserting Tehran readiness to provide every possible help in this regard through expanding prospects of economic cooperation.    

On the referendum recently held in northern Iraq, the two sides expressed their absolute rejection to any attempt that harms the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq or of any other country in the region.

Both sides stressed that confronting the dangers facing the region’s countries, particularly terrorism threat, necessitates deepening elements of unity and homogeneity among the peoples of the region.

Iran to continue supporting Syria in war on terrorism

In a press conference in Damascus, Boroujerdi affirmed that Iran will continue supporting Syria in its war against terrorism and it is also ready to contribute to the country’s reconstruction process.

He said Iran’s first Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri is due to visit Syria at a later time.

He affirmed that his country gives great importance to the issue of reconstruction in Syria, adding that the upcoming visit of the First Vice-President of Iran to Syria will be an important point to bolster the pace of bilateral cooperation and to take a number of steps in the field of reconstruction.

The Iranian official described the agreements reached at the Astana meetings on the crisis in Syria among the guarantor states as “constructive and good”, referring to the coordination between Iran, Syria, Russia and Iraq in confronting the terrorist organizations.

On the referendum held recently in the north of Iraq, Boroujedi reiterated his country’s rejection of the referendum and its opposition to any attempt to harm the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq, stressing that the referendum is “doomed to failure.”

He pointed out that dialogue sessions and discussions are taking place between senior Iranian and Iraqi officials in this regard, stressing that the neighboring countries of Iraq will not allow the implementation and realization of this plan.

“What is happening in the Kurdistan region represents for Iran a transgression of a red line, and Tehran will not stand idly by,” said Boroujerdi.

On January 4, 2017, President Bashar Al-Assad received  the Chairman for the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi and the accompanying delegation.

President Assad pointed out that Iran  and all countries which stand by the Syrian People are partners in the accomplishments achieved against terrorists.

H.E. President Assad appreciated the support provided by Iran  to Syria politically and economically which greatly contributed to the bolstering of the Syrians steadfastness.

Mr. Boroujerdi declared that the visit is to congratulate the Syrians over the victory realized in Aleppo as a big step forward to restore security and stability to all of the Syrian territories.

Iran is ever to stand by Syria in the face of the terrorism  war as the future of Syria is very pivotal the stability of the region, underscored Boroujerdi.

The talks touched upon the standing historic relations between Syria and Iran  and with means to enhance and upgrade them at all levels, including the signature of economic agreements in the interest of the people of both friendly countries.

 On Thursday, 22 December 2016, H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad underscored that   the liberation of Aleppo from terrorism is not only victory for Syria, but for whoever contributes genuinely to fight terrorism, particularly for Iran  and Russia,.

Receiving the visiting Iranian Assistance foreign Minister for the Arab-African Affairs Hussein Jaberi Ansari, President Assad added that this liberation is also a setback  for all the states which are anti-Syrian People and which used terrorism as a means for their own interests.

Mr. Ansari, on his turn, outlined that the strategic relations binding Syria and Iran  for decades have contributed to immunize both countries and the region countries in general to encounter foreign schemes, asserting Iran’s determination to develop bilateral relations with Syria providing all that is necessary as to bolster the Syrians’ firmness and steadfastness against terrorism.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the latest developments, regional and international developments, where Mr. Ansari briefed H.E. President Assad on the exerted diplomatic efforts as to help in ending the terror war imposed on the Syrians, especially the latest tripartite meeting in Moscow between IranRussia and Turkey.

Aleppo’s recent victory against terrorism is but the fundamental step on the way of elimination terrorism from all of Syrian territories securing the appropriate conditions for a solution as to end war, underlined the meeting talks.

 On September 19, 2016, President Bashar Al-Assad held talks with Mr. Ansari and an accompanying delegation on the strategic and distinguished relations between the two countries, as well as developments in Syria and their regional and international ramifications.

The latest developments in Syria were dealt with during the meeting.

Mr. Boroujerdi pointed out the accomplishments achieved by the Syrian Arab Army in fighting terrorism do crown the steadfastness of the Syrians and their resistance and determination to defend Syria against terrorism.

Boroujerdi expressed his belief that the victory of Syria would redraw the map of the entire region.

The insistence of some countries to pursue their irrational policies and backing to terrorist organizations and even against the interest of their own people caused the spread of terrorism and instability, both sides underscored.

‘the future of the region is to be drawn by the people who stood against the above mentioned policies and who offered sacrifices in the face of terrorism as to safeguard their countries and their independent decision making.” underscored H.E. President Al-Assad.

Both sides underscored the importance for bolstering continued parliamentarian cooperation in boosting of the standing brotherly relations upgrading the level of cooperation between the governments of Syria and Iran.

Mr. Boroujerdi, in a meeting with Expatriates and Foreign Minister, Walid Al-Moallem, reiterated Iran’s continued stances by Syria in all fields as to achieve victory against terrorism and restore stability and security to all of Syria.

Minister Al-Moallem asserted that victory against terrorism is looming ahead and that the Syrians have but the basic alternative of standing steadfast.

Mr. Boroujerdi, in a press conference following his talks in Syria, asserted that the solution for the crisis in Syria is through a Syrian-Syrian dialogue with no foreign interference and with no foreign imposed solutions, calling on the United Nations to play its role in this regard.

Mr. Boroujerdi asserted the dire need as to hold those supporters of terrorism at the international level accountable.

 On October 15, 2015,  H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad underscored that the the Syrian People do appreciate and evaluate the efforts exerted by the friendly countries, on top of them stand Iran and Russia, as to cooperate with Syria in its war against terrorism and as to bolster Syria’s steadfastness factors, underscored.

In a meeting with the visiting Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Head of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, President Al-Assad added that these efforts and cooperation are to yield fruits to be reaped by all of the region people as well as of the entire world.

Syria highly evaluates the ideas presented by Iran for solving the crisis in Syria, not mention the care and keenness of the Islamic Republic of Iran on helping the Syrians as to eliminate terrorism for the success of any political track in Syria.

 Mr. Boroujerdi underlined the importance of the standing strategic relations between Syria and Iran and the keenness of Iran on the bolstering of the standing relations, especially in the field of fighting terrorism as to safeguard the joint national security of Iran and of Syria.

Mr. Boroujerdi asserted that the mixed Syrian and Iranian blood in the fight against terrorism on the Syrian territories underscores but the deep rootedness and correctness of the standing historic relations between Syria and Iran.

Mr. Boroujerdi voiced Iran’s satisfaction over the ongoing progress in the fight against terrorism following the creation of the Quartet Front against terrorism, comprising Syria, Russia, Iraq and Iran, which also exposed the failure of the US-led coalition for fighting terrorism and its false claims.

The talks during the meeting focused at conditions in Syria, the region and on the positive development in the fight against terrorism following the foundation of the Quartet Front against terrorism and terrorist organizations which threaten regional as well as international security and stability.

In a press conference, Mr. Boroujerdi has stressed today that “to be successful any initiative to solve the crisis in Syria should be made in coordination with the Syrian government.”

Boroujerdi added that the Russian military operation against terrorism organizations in Syria, support the Syrian state and backs the efforts being exerted to attain political settlement in the country.

The senior Iranian official asserted that he visited Damascus to reaffirm Iran’s support for Syria, the country which “stands in the frontline of resistance”.

“Syria’s resistance against the terrorist aggression against the country deserves all respect and appreciation,” Boroujerdi said, adding that “aggression on Syria is satanic scheme aiming at undermining the Palestinian cause.”

He clarified that “Western and regionally-backed terrorists are coming to Syria from tens of countries and the Syrian people are fighting them to defend the dignity and security of their homeland.”

He pointed out that the only exit from the crisis in Syria can only be found through political solution, stressing that any settlement initiative made without coordination with the Syrian government will be destined to failure.

On Turkey’s anti-Syria stances, Boroujerdi said “we have rejected the Turkish policy towards Syria and repeatedly talked to Turkish officials about this. We think that supporting terrorist organizations, by training and arming them, is a grave mistake and will have very bad impacts on ground.”

 “The satanic scheme targeting Syria wants the Islamic world to forget its main cause; the Palestinian cause,” Borojerdi said, stressing that this plan has failed despite the billions of dollars spent to implement it and that a third Palestinian Intifada against the Zionist occupation is looming.

Last May on Saturday the 7th of May, 2016,  underscored H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad that scores of the Western and regional countries which fueled terrorism in Syria  during past years continue, overtly as well as covertly, to support and provide cover for terrorists though of the exerted efforts as to halt fighting and back political solution in Syria,

During his talks with Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, the visiting top adviser to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the accompanying delegation here Saturday, President Assad highly lauded the firm stance of Iran  in support of the Syrians’ steadfastness, in bolstering of the standing solid relations for more than 3 decades.

 Dr. Velayati reiterated Iran’s ever stand by Syria, providing all possible support in bolstering of its steadfastness, hence the fierce terrorist war against Syria targets but all of the region people.

Dr. Velayati pointed out that the hero steadfastness of the Syrians and the victories on the ground by the Syrian Army do register a new glorious page in the history of Syria.

The standing strategic relations between Syria and Iran and the importance of continued bilateral cooperation and coordination in all fields, particularly in the field of fighting terrorism were focused at.

Assertion was made that anti-terrorism front, led by Syria, Iran  and Russia, is but the main pillar as to eliminate terrorismand extremism and as to restore security, stability to Syria and to the region.

 On November 29, 2015,  H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad highlighted here Sunday the steadfastness of the Syrian People during the last years as well as the important achievements by the Syrian Arab Army, backed by the friends, on top of them stand both Iran and Russia,  in the fight against terrorism.

Such achievements against terrorism have provoked some anti-Syria countries, which claim to fight terrorism, as to increase escalation, financing and arming of terrorist gangs, added H.E. President Al-Assad, upon receiving the visiting Iranian Supreme Leader senior Advisor, Ali Akbar Velayati and an accompanying delegation.

H.E. President Al-Assad asserted the determination of Syria and its friends to pursue the fight against terrorism in all of its forms; hence ‘we are confident that the elimination of terrorists would but create the first basic measure in establishing stability in the region as well as in the world and would also create the real introduction for the success of any political solution to be  decided upon by the Syrians.

 Dr. Velayati voiced the appreciation of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the unique steadfastness of the Syrian People and Leadership in the face of the fierce Takfiri terrorist gangs, backed and financed by regional and Western States with the aim of weakening the region countries enflaming futile wars on ethnical and racial backgrounds.

Dr. Velayati reiterated to H.E. President Al-Assad the determination of the Iranian Leadership and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution to pursue supporting the Syria Arab Republic, government and people, hence the war by Syrians against terrorism is crucial for the region as well as the world.

The visiting Iranian delegation briefed H.E. President Al-Assad on the efforts exerted by the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the choices of the Syrian People and of the sovereignty and integrity of Syria.
