Moscow calls for dialogue and immediate cessation of violence in the Middle East before situation gets out of control
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin called for an immediate cessation of escalation in the Middle East before the situation gets completely out of control.
Vershinin said during a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Lebanon: “What is happening in the region proves once again that finding difficult solutions to crises can only be achieved through dialogue, and it is necessary to stop violence immediately before the situation gets completely out of control.”
Vershinin added: “We call for an immediate cessation of hostilities that would prevent further bloodshed and create conditions for returning the settlement process to the political and diplomatic route.”
Vershinin condemned the statements of Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant about returning Lebanon to the Stone Age, as well as the threats of mass destruction, stressing the need to abandon irresponsible rhetoric and act with the utmost restraint.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the death toll from the Israeli aggression on Lebanon on Wednesday had risen to 70 martyrs and 400 wounded.
