Idlib, (ST): The Idlib Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with the various activities in the governorate, launched an afforestation campaign in the city of Maarat al-Nouman in the southern countryside of Idlib which was liberated from terrorism.
The Director of Idlib Agriculture, Eng. Muhammad Nour Tako, explained in a statement to SANA news reporter that this campaign is special because it coincides with allowing the people to return to the city of Maarat al-Nouman, as it restores the vegetation cover and its green spaces, especially in the gardens, squares and roads.
Tako indicated that the afforestation campaign today aims to plant 4,000 saplings of various types of forest plants, such as cypress, pine, fan palm, eucalyptus, and zanzelakht, pointing out that the Directorate has a plan to plant both sides and the middle of the international road that connects Maarat Al-Nouman to the city of Hama, with a length of about 70 kilometers, after allocating the necessary funds in coordination with the concerned authorities, especially the Public Authority for Road Transport.
In turn, the head of the Maarat al-Nouman city council, Muhammad Abd al-Basit al-Rabee, underlined the importance and timing of the campaign, which accompanies the return of the locals of Maarat Al-Nouman to their city, with a focus on cultivating green spaces that have been tampered with by terrorists and replanting them, in order to restore, develop, care for and preserve the forest wealth in the region.
