Ministry of Education Continues Rehabilitation of Destroyed Schools in Damascus Countryside

The Ministry of Education continues its efforts to restore schools that were destroyed due to the bombardment of the former regime, aiming to provide a safe and healthy educational environment for students and to rehabilitate the educational system in Syria.

Among the schools are Saqba Girls’ School and Douma Boys’ School in Damascus Countryside. The ministry oversees the restoration works in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the “Wifaq” humanitarian organization.

Director of School Buildings Engineer Mohammad Al-Hanoun, confirmed that the number of schools being restored in Rural Damascus is 26 out of 207 schools that are out of service in the governorate.

Al-Hanoun explained that the ministry has assessed the needs of 1,411 schools and has begun restoring 260 schools across various governorates.
