Zakharova: The Israeli attacks have caused an escalation of tension in the Gaza Strip

Moscow (ST): Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have caused an escalation of tension, stressing Russia’s adherence to its position on solving the Palestinian issue in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

Russia Today website quoted Zakharova as saying in a statement that “Moscow expresses grave concern over these developments in the Gaza Strip, which could lead to the resumption of a comprehensive military confrontation and the further deterioration of the deplorable humanitarian situation in the Strip.”

“We affirm Russia’s principled and consistent position, which is reflected in the relevant United Nations General Assembly resolutions in support of a comprehensive and long-term solution to the Palestinian issue,” Zakharova added.
