Tehran, (ST) – The Arabic spokeswoman for the US State Department, Hala Greet announced that she resigned from her position in protest against Washington’s policy towards the brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, in at least the third resignation from the ministry due to this issue.
Greet, who worked in the US State Department for 18 years, revealed in an interview with US National Public Radio (NPR) that she was subjected to a lot of silencing when she spoke publicly about US policy regarding its position on the aggression on Gaza.
She added: I realized at some point that this policy of the US was indeed a failed policy.
She continued: That is why I decided that I could no longer be part of the work, and I decided to submit my resignation.
Grete pointed out that we can no longer talk about freedom of the press when we were silent about the killing of more than 100 journalists in Gaza.
It is noteworthy that before Greet’s resignation, Anil Shellen from the Human Rights Office in the US State Department announced her resignation, as did State Department official Josh Paul who resigned last October, and Tariq Habash, a senior official in the US Department of Education, who also resigned from his position in January in protest against the American policy supporting the Israeli entity.
