The Commission of Detainees Affairs demands intervention to protect the Palestinian prisoners from corona infection

Occupied Jerusalem,(ST)- Commission of  Detainees  Affairs called on the international community to urgently intervene to protect Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation camps from infection with the Corona virus and to compel the occupation authorities to take preventive measures to protect them from it and to release the sick, the elderly and children.

The Commission confirmed in a statement , reported by Ma’an Agency, that four Palestinian prisoners were infected with the Corona virus “Covid 19” in one of the occupation camps as a result of the occupation authorities’ refusal to take preventive measures to protect the prisoners and provide them with methods of protection and public safety such as disinfectants, cleaning materials and sterilization, as well as refusing to release those with weak immunity .

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry stressed two days ago that the racist occupation’s practices are part of the organized terrorism that it engages in in its war against the Palestinian presence, and this time it affects the public health of the prisoners, noting that what the occupation is doing comes at a time when international and humanitarian efforts are increasing to face the risk of a virus Corona outbreak .

The Israeli occupation authorities continue their violations against Palestinian prisoners in their detention facilities and prevent precautionary measures against the Corona virus, which threatens the lives of 5,000 thousand Palestinian prisoners, including 200 children and 700 patients suffering from chronic diseases such as heart, kidneys, cancer, diabetes, dozens of women and the elderly.
