Tehran, (ST) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif affirmed that Washington’s suspension of funding for the World Health Organization during the spread of the Corona epidemic is a permanent stigma on America’s behalf
Zarif said in a tweet today that “the world is learning that the United States “kills people”, after President Donald Trump suspended US funding for the World Health Organization amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif likened the funding freeze to Washington’s “maximum pressure” campaign against his country, adding that “the United States launched a campaign of crippling sanctions against Iran in 2018 after Trump unilaterally withdrew from a nuclear deal”.
“The shameful defunding of WHO amid a pandemic will live in infamy,” and the world is learning what Iran has known & experienced all along”, Zarif continued on Twitter.
US President Donald Trump had announced earlier that he had ordered his administration to suspend the payment of the United States’ financial contribution to the World Health Organization, pretexting of what he called the “mismanagement” of the United Nations in the crisis of the Corona virus.
