Russian Foreign Ministry: The response to Western sanctions may be painful

Moscow, (ST) – The Russian Foreign Ministry affirmed that the steps that Moscow will take in response to Western sanctions against it may be “very painful.”

“The Russian side has not yet taken its measures in full force,” Dmitry Perechevsky, the Director of the Ministry’s Economic Cooperation Department, was quoted by the RIA Novosti News Agency. He added that “we reserve the right to tighten our own measures, and the Russian government is studying steps in this regard.

Perechevsky said that, the Western restrictions are sensitive for the Russian economy, but the actions and measures that we will take in response to these restrictions may be very painful.”

Perechevsky pointed out that Western countries are exhausting their economies and citizens with anti-Russian steps, which is not Russia’s fault, and that Europeans may face winter without heating and summer heat without air conditioners.

Western countries have imposed unfair sanctions on Russia over its own military operation in Ukraine, the matter has exacerbated global inflation and soared oil, gas, grain and food prices in the world.
