Putin: The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is a humanitarian disaster

Moscow (ST) – Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the situation that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has reached, has acquired the characteristics of a real humanitarian catastrophe.

Russia Today website quoted Putin as saying on Monday in a speech on the occasion of presenting the credentials of foreign ambassadors to Moscow: “You are heading your embassies in a very difficult period for international relations, as crises in global politics and the economy are increasing.”

“Regional conflicts are intensifying, in addition to the state of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which has been prolonged and has become tragic”, he added, “This tragedy has taken on the features of a real humanitarian catastrophe”.

On more than one occasion, Putin stressed Russia’s firm position adhering to the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders in a way that achieves the legitimate interests of the Palestinian people.
