Protests renewed in a number of Lebanese regions

Popular protests were renewed today in Lebanon demanding an improvement of living condition and the speedy formation of the Lebanese government, after two days of confrontations in downtown Beirut, which resulted in injuring  hundreds of people.

A number of protesters in the morning closed many main and side roads in and around the city of Tripoli in northern Lebanon, while the Lebanese army opened some of them, the Lebanese National News Agency reported.

Other protesters also put stickers on the doors of schools, universities and institutes in some areas of Tripoli and prevented students and teachers from entering schools, while banks, shops, public institutions and government departments were opened.

In the Koura region in northern Lebanon, protesters closed Dahr al-Ain road near Al-Houz complex in both directions, while the Halba highway opposite Fransabank in Akkar was closed several days ago by dust and iron barriers, barrels and tires.

For the second day, Beirut downtown witnessed confrontations between demonstrators who tried to carry out sabotage operations and the security forces who confronted them. The Lebanese Red Cross reported that dozens of people were injured.
