Deir Ezzour, ST- Deir Ezzour Health Directoratecontinues to provide free diagnostic and treatment services for leishmaniasis through distributed centers in the city and the countryside, as it prepares, according to those responsible for it, to send mobile teams to treat injuries in aljazeera region.
Deir Ezzour Health Director Dr. Bashar Al-Shuaibi told Sana Health that the treatment is provided to people with leishmaniasis free of charge through weekly sessions in 20 health centers spread in the city of Deir Ezzour and its safe countryside in addition to 4 mobile teams, stressing that “treatment is available for different cases”.
Al-Shuaibi revealed that the number of recorded cases of leishmaniasis of residents in the governorate during 2019 did not exceed 300, while health centers in Deir Ezzor provided treatment for about a thousand cases in al-Jazeera region last December.
Al-Shuaibi indicated that the Ministry of Health is preparing to send teams from the Directorate’s cadres to provide treatment for people with leishmaniasis in the Syrian al-Jazeera, to prevent the spread of this disease.
Deir Ezzour director of health warned against buying any medicine for leishmaniasisfrom the market, pointing out that the disease is spreading in areas that suffer from bad environmental conditions such as the accumulation of garbage, the stagnant swamps , rodents and stray dogs.
The health of Deir Ezzour recorded 10450 cases of leishmaniasis during 2017-2018 in specialized health centers.
Cutaneous leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease that is transmitted by the bite of the sand fly, which is a very small insect that activates at night.
