Over 17,500 citizens of Donbass crossed Russia’s borders in a day

Over the past 24 hours, more than 17,500 citizens of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics in the Donbass region have crossed the borders of Russia, the Rostov Region Border Guard Service announced today.

In a statement today, TASS news agency quoted the local border guard service as saying: More than 17,500 citizens of the Donbass region have crossed the border into Russia through the checkpoints in the Rostov region during the past 24 hours.

A source in the security bodies announced last April that more than 915,000 people, including about 17,000 children, arrived in Russia through checkpoints in Rostov, Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk and Crimea regions. They were received in five camps, and from there they are distributed to 46 regions in Russia, where there are 483 temporary accommodation centers.
