Meetings of the Syrian-Iraqi joint Committee start in Baghdad

Baghdad, (ST) –  The work of the joint Syrian-Iraqi committee on Tuesday began its twelfth session in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. The committee was co-chaired by Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil and the Iraqi Minister of Trade Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairi.

In his speech at the opening of the meeting, Minister Al-Khalil pointed to the strong relations between the two brotherly countries, built on the foundations of integration that serve the interests of the Syrian and Iraqi peoples.

The Iraqi News Agency INA reported that Minister Al-Khalil stressed Syria’s desire to develop and diversify intra-regional trade and raise the level of import and export with Iraq.

In turn, Al-Ghurairi stressed in his speech that the Iraqi government’s vision is to create balanced relations in the region and with brothers based on sustainable development, integrated economic interests, raising the level of trade exchange, and overcoming the obstacles facing cooperation.

He pointed out that the Iraqi government is making great efforts to develop economic performance and provide a suitable climate to enhance foreign trade, encourage investment, and create joint industrial and commercial cooperation that contributes to increasing the rates of trade exchange with Syria, which serves the common interests.

The Iraqi minister called on the Iraqi-Syrian businessmen and companies to take full advantage of the distinguished relations between the two countries and turn them into tangible cooperation projects in various fields.
