Lavrov: Russia supports Iran’s position on resuming the nuclear deal

Phnom Penh (ST): Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that the Iran nuclear deal should be returned to its original form, which was agreed upon in 2015, without exceptions or additions.

Lavrov said at a press conference in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh today, “Our position is very clear on the agreement, which has never changed, and is based on the need to resume the comprehensive plan of action for the nuclear agreement exclusively in the form approved by the UN Security Council without any additions or exceptions.”

According to Lavrov, “The Americans are trying to make the amended plan the subject of a new agreement, while the Iranians insist that everything will be as agreed in 2015. We see that Iran’s position is completely legitimate.. The Americans withdrew from the plan that everyone agreed to, including Americans themselves.
