With the participation of activities from different governorates and expatriates, “Kessab” Festival for Culture, Folk Traditions and National Tourism kicked off in the town of Kessab in Lattakia province in the presence of the Minister of Tourism, Mohamed Rami Martini.
The four-day event was organized by the Armenian Orthodox Diocese on the occasion of the feasts of the Virgin Mary.
The Armenian Orthodox Metropolitan of Aleppo Father Masis Zoboyan, confirmed that the festival is for all Syrians, and this popular demonstration and charitable markets in the town are a title for the victories of the Syrian Arab Army and a message to the world that the Syrians are brothers of all sects.
The mayor of the town of Kessab Sebou Kurkjian said that the festival restored joy and normal life to the residents of Kessab after its liberation from the terrorist groups which reflected their firm belief and adherence to their homeland, army and leader.
He indicated that this gave a great impetus to the production of the charitable and popular markets and the exhibits including traditional handicrafts which Kessab is famous for.
Kurkjian pointed out that the festival is a good opportunity for the women participating in the exhibition to sell their products and improve their economic conditions which will reflect positively on the cultural and social aspect of the people of the region and Syria in general.
The Sartarabad band of the Syrian Youth Cultural Club in Aleppo and the Kigart Folk Dance band from Lattakia presented traditional folkloric songs and dancing from Syrian and Armenian folklore.
The Minister of Tourism, Bishop Zoboyan and the Governor of Lattakia had inaugurated the popular charitable market organized by the Cross Society for the Relief of Armenians which included various Armenian traditional food, textile and wool products.
