Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid called for the prosecution of the perpetrators of the crime of killing Al-Quds Force Commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Deputy Head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, three years ago.
In a speech on his behalf, his representative, Abdullah Al-Alyawi, said during an official festival held in Baghdad today to pay tribute to the martyrs: “This crime must be the subject of constant denunciation and rejection, and be a priority of Iraq’s political engagement until justice is achieved.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said that the previous US Administration’s action was a flagrant attack on Iraqi territory and sovereignty that is condemned by all international norms and laws, and it was a dangerous act whose consequences could have threatened security and stability in the entire region.
The Head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Authority, Faleh al-Fayyad, also confirmed that the leaders of victory are role models for Iraqi youth and the forthcoming generation, pointing out that martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was the son of Iraq, who had dedicated his life to defending the country.
The President of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, Fa’eq Zeidan, described the assassination as a treacherous crime with no legal basis, noting that the council would not hesitate to take legal action against anyone found to be involved in the murder.
Zeidan explained that the Judicial Council issued a warrant for the arrest of former US President Donald Trump, who confessed to the crime, calling on those investigating the murder of the victory leaders to make an exceptional effort to uncover the perpetrators.
