Iran calls on the world to ignore the US embargo imposed on it

Tehran, (ST) -Iran renews calling on the world to ignore the US embargo imposed on it to enable it to cope with the spread of the Corona virus.

In a statement today, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi called on the Non-Aligned Movement member states to pressure the United States to lift the unlawful and unilateral sanctions against Iran pointing out that the spread of the Corona virus is a global challenge that all countries should be able to face without any obstacles

 

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Gholam-Reza Ansari said that the Americans deprived Iran of its resources and threatened other countries not to cooperate with it. 
Ansari stressed that the Americans’ allegations about their willingness to help Iran and to  send them doctors are nothing but ways of cheating public opinion.
Meanwhile, the Iranian embassy in Russia said in a statement that the unjust US embargo imposed on Iran and obstructing the arrival of medical equipment in the context of combating the outbreak of the Corona virus shows America’s willfulness in a humanitarian catastrophe appears in Iran.
The statement affirmed that blocking the purchase of humanitarian equipment such as medicines and medical devices in order to combat the Corona virus is a violation of international laws.
The Iranian ambassador to Spain, Hassan Qashqawi, condemned in a press interview with the Spanish newspaper the continuation of the US embargo against Iran under conditions of fighting the outbreak of the Coronavirus, describing these practices as a blatant injustice that contradicts humanitarian principles.
