ANKARA, (ST)- President of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyib Erdogan has turned the Turkish embassies and consulates around the world into spy networks to be used against his opponents abroad, according to Turkish political analysts.
“Erdogan has been working for more than 5 years to silence and suppress his opponents inside Turkey and abroad through a politicized judiciary that serves his goals,” the Turkish Zeman Newspaper reported citing Turkish political analyst Ishak Jawdat Kamel.
Kamel referred to the random arrest campaigns that have been carried out continuously by the Turkish regime authorities against opposition figures under the pretext of the 2016 coup attempt, indicating that 100,000 Turks are in prison without any legal basis or evidence proving their link to the coup attempt.
The political analyst stressed that Erdogan’s incessant attempts to crack down on and chase up opposition figures and all those who dare to criticize him, in addition to the widespread arrest campaigns, have prompted many Turks to flee their country and seek asylum in Europe.
On his part, Turkish political analyst Turgut Oglu affirmed that Erdogan has hired individuals and consulates with the aim of spying and tracking his opponents abroad. The analyst clarified that this comes while the Turkish regime is suffering from suffocating political and economic crises due to its policies.
Hameed Beliji, another Turkish political analyst, said that Erdogan has turned Turkey into a “party state”, using government institutions to serve him and his party’s agenda.
Critics and opponents of Erdogan’s policies have been exposed to espionage and have faced death threats and kidnapping since 2014. However, the failed coup attempt against Erdogan in July 2016 has become a permanent pretext for the Turkish regime to liquidate its opponents.
