ANKARA, (ST)- The Turkish regime’s authorities have arrested 12 Turkish soldiers on charges of being linked to the organization of the Turkish preacher Fathallah Gulen, whom the regime accuses of being behind the coup attempt in 2016.
The pro-Turkish regime Anatolian Agency said that the Public Prosecution Office in Izmir issued arrest warrants for 15 army personnel, 12 of whom were arrested during recent raids in eight provinces.
Since the failed coup attempt, the Turkish regime, led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has launched a severe repressive campaign targeting his opponents. As a result, tens of thousands of Turks have been arrested and dismissed in various civil and military institutions in Turkey.
