Before leaving Tehran yesterday, Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, met with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hussein Amer Abdullahian and discussed the bilateral relations and issues of common interest.

Eng. Arnous pointed to what was accomplished during the meetings of the Syria Iranian joint Higher Committee, including the signing of important agreements and memorandums of understanding the context of developing and strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially on the economic level. He said: There is serious interest on both sides to achieve a qualitative leap in trade cooperation and expand joint investment and production projects for the benefit of the two friendly countries and peoples.

The Prime Minister pointed out the Israeli attacks on Syrian lands and the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, and he said, “The silence of the international community regarding the crimes of the occupying entity has encouraged Israel to continue its brutal aggression and killing of women and children in the Gaza Strip. This is an indication of its inability to achieve its aggressive goals, and the international community must take action to stop the Israeli killing machine.”

Engineer Arnous renewed Syria’s support for Iran’s legitimate right to obtain peaceful nuclear energy and the lifting of the unilateral coercive sanctions that are also imposed on Syria.

For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the agreements that were signed between the Iranian and Syrian sides. He stressed the importance of implementing them according to specific time in order to achieve the interests of the two countries and contribute to improving the economic situation in them, and working to expand the horizons of cooperation and joint work.

The Iranian Foreign Minister condemned the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the support provided by the United States of America to the occupying entity and its crimes against children and women. He pointed out that the resistance is confronting aggression based on its adherence to its land and the rights of its people.

The meeting was attended by the delegation accompanying the Prime Minister, the Syrian Ambassador to Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Diob and the Iranian Ambassador to Damascus, Ali Akbari.
