The Prime Minister, Eng. Hussein Arnous, discussed today with Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, the Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, and Jassim Abdul-Aziz Hammadi, the assistant authorized with the powers of the Minister of Environment, means to enhance cooperation in the field of water resources and agricultural projects, as well as the environment, especially in light of climate changes, low amounts of precipitation, and climatic and environmental challenges facing the two countries. and the region in general.
The two sides stressed the need to continue coordinating efforts and joint work to preserve the rights of Syria and Iraq in the waters of the Euphrates River, and to work to strengthen cooperation in the fields of training and rehabilitation, exchange technical expertise, expand the modern irrigation experience in the two countries, and overcome all obstacles to the development of bilateral relations in various fields, especially the work of border crossings. and land transportation.
The two sides stressed the importance of exerting efforts to expand the areas of joint cooperation to include new horizons that benefit the two countries and the two brotherly peoples and keep pace with developments in the region and the world, with an emphasis on continuing to implement policies for rational management of water resources and their optimal uses.
