Donetsk forces: Ukrainian forces use banned weapons in their attacks

The forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic announced that the Ukrainian forces used prohibited anti-personnel mines during the attacks on the territory of the Republic.

“Ukrainian armed factions attacked the Kievsky and Kuibyshevsky regions of Donetsk and during that time threw several Lipstock anti-personnel mines under the feet of the city’s residents,” the command of the republic’s forces said in a statement today.

The statement pointed out that this type of mine is prohibited in accordance with international treaties and agreements.

Ukraine ratified in 2005 the Ottawa Convention, which bans the use, stockpiling and production of antipersonnel mines, thus violating the Kiev authorities’ international obligations.
