China suspends cooperation with the United States in several fields

Beijing (ST): China has announced the suspension of cooperation with the United States of America in several fields in response to the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the Chinese island of Taiwan.

In a statement today, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that Beijing had suspended negotiations with Washington on climate change and suspended cooperation on the repatriation of illegal immigrants, criminal legal aid, combating cross-border crime and drug control.

The Foreign Ministry added: The working meeting between the Chinese Ministry of Defense and the US Defense Ministry has been canceled, the dialogue at the level of the regional military commands of China and the United States has been suspended, as well as meetings with US representatives within the framework of the maritime security guarantee mechanism.
