China: Israel should stop all incitement and provocative actions in the Middle East

United Nations (ST): China affirmed its support for the establishment of an independent and fully sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, noting that it will continue to work with the international community to make positive contributions to the Palestinian cause and to achieve peace and security in the Middle East.

Xinhua news agency quoted China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Zhang Jiyun, as saying that his country calls for calm, restraint, and avoiding further escalation with regard to the Palestinian issue, adding: “(Israel) must stop all incitement and provocative actions, and refrain from taking any action.” Any action may lead to a deterioration of the situation.”

Jiyun expressed that China is deeply concerned about the escalation of tensions following the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Itamar Ben Gvir, the minister in the Israeli occupation government.
