Algerian President: May 8 massacres will remain a stain in the history of France

Algiers (ST): Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said that the massacres perpetrated by France against Algeria would remain a stain in the history of France and would never be removed by the passage of time despite recurrent attempts to “bleach ” them.

The Algerian News Agency quoted Tebboune as saying in his address to the nation on the 75thanniversary of the May 8 massacres that these atrocities disclosed the real image of the French expansionist colonialist aggression.

He stressed that these atrocities are crimes against humanity and civilization values, because they were based on ethnic cleansing to replace the indigenous population with strangers and plunder their resources.

The Algerian President noted that all attempts being made to whiten  the French colonialist image would be a doomed failure, calling on historians to focus on this stage of Algerian history.

Tebboune issued a degree considering May 8 as a national memory day every year. He also gave instructions to launch a national historical TV channel.
