HOMS, (ST)- Al-Waleed Hospital in Al-Wae’r neighborhood, the last bastion of gunmen in the city of Homs until recently, has resumed its work and started to provide medical services to citizens after the gunmen, who rejected the reconciliation agreement left the district and Homs was declared free of gunmen.
Dr. Hassan al-Jundi, Director of Homs Health Directorate, told SANA yesterday that after the evacuation of the last batch of gunmen from al-Waer, Al-Waleed Hospital “restarted providing medical services including emergency services for free to patients through qualified medical and nursing staff.”
Al- Jundi said that “despite the difficult circumstances caused by the presence of gunmen in the district, the hospital was working in its minimum capacity, noting that “70%-80 % of the hospital was damaged. He added that focus is currently made on providing the hospital with radiology and laboratory sections”.
Last Sunday, Homs city was declared free of armed groups and fully secure after the implementation of the reconciliation agreement reached in al-Waer neighborhood was completed by the departure of hundreds of gunmen and by settling the legal status of other gunmen who joined reconciliation in the neighborhood in accordance with Amnesty Decree No. 15 of 2016.
