DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad has stressed that the Israeli occupation’s policy of demolishing Palestinians’ houses is a war crime and a crime against humanity, voicing Syria’s firm support for the Palestinian people’s struggle against occupation and for their right to self-determination amid restless attempts by the Trump’s administration and some European countries and their tools in the region to undermine the Palestinian cause through the so-called “Deal of the Century”.
During a meeting with a delegation representing the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization led by Azam al-Ahmad, al-Mikdad called on the United Nations and the international community to condemn the Israeli demolition policy and put an end to such criminal acts.
He called for unity among Palestinian factions in the confrontation of the Israeli threats.
Al-Mikdad affirmed that the struggle of the Syrian people against terrorism and the struggle of the Palestinian people against the Israeli and American schemes and attacks are one struggle that serves the goals of the Arab nation in confronting challenges.
On his part, the Palestinian official hailed Syria’s victory over the global conspiracy, noting that Syria has paid the price of supporting just Arab causes, mainly the Palestinian cause. He expressed hope that Syria will recover from terrorism as soon as possible because this will serve the interest of the Palestinian cause.
In a statement to journalists following the meeting, al-Mikdad affirmed that the Syrian and Palestinian peoples are able to achieve victory and restore their legitimate rights.
