Moscow voices support for UN Secretary General’s call for international truce

Moscow ( ST): Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vasilyevich Vershinin affirmed that Moscow supports the calls made by the UN Secretary General António Guterres for a truce in areas of conflict in the world on condition that this truce does not affect the war against terrorist organizations.

In a statement to Sputnik News Agency, Vershinin  said, “we completely support UN Secretary General’s call for a truce in the areas of conflict in the world, and as a UNSC permanent member state, Russia is ready to contribute to the implementation of this important initiative, noting that this truce should not affect the decisive war being launched against terrorist organizations which were determined by the UN Security Council.

He added that in light of the spread of the Corona virus pandemic,  the UN role in settling crises increases,  pointing out that  in case medicine and medical care do not reach the volatile areas, there is a possibility of the occurrence of a terrible human catastrophe.
