International economic investment forum is held in Damascus

Under the title “Invest in Syria”, the International Economic Investment Forum was held today with the participation of economic activities at the Umayyad Conferences Palace in Damascus.

During the opening of the forum, Minister of State for Investment Affairs Wafika Hosni stressed that Syria is proceeding with building and reconstruction as a priority for the recovery of the economic, productive and service sectors, and is focusing on creating a sound investment environment in the next phase.

 

Minister Hosni said that the best investment is the one that contributes to creating added value that stimulates employment and pushes the production process forward which in turn will achieve the public and private economic goals and encourages new investments.

For his part, the Director-General of the Investment Commission, Median Diab, reviewed the promising investment opportunities in the various industrial, transformational and agricultural sectors, live stock production, electricity, energy, tourism and services, which will form a solid base for diversifying the inputs of the national economy.

In turn, Manhal Junaidi, the General Manager of the Telecommunications and Post Commission, stressed in his speech that the Ministry of Telecommunication and Technology seeks to encourage investors to provide telecommunication and postal services and update technologies in this field and to develop e-government services.

For his part, the Director General of the Insurance Supervision Commission, Engineer Samer Al-Esh, said that the Commission has paved the way for investors to insure their projects and investments, thus establishing a promising investment environment that attracts investments from abroad.

The head of the Economic Group for the Promotion of International Investments and the organizer of the forum Nabil Marzouk pointed out that the number of economic and investment activities participating in the forum and the accompanying exhibition, that will open on Tuesday evening at Damascus Fairgrounds about supporting reconstruction projects in Syria and investment opportunities, reached 80 companies from Syria and abroad.

Dr. Eng. Abd Rahman Hamza al-Na`san, the participant in the forum, referred to the active role of engineers in the reconstruction phase, especially with regard to recycling and benefiting from the rubbles of destroyed buildings.
