French delegation arrives in Damascus

DAMASCUS, (ST) _A French delegation composed of Members of Parliament, businessmen, intellectuals and Journalists started on Wednesday a several-day visit to Syria.

Speaking to journalists, the delegation head MP Thierry Mariani said that the goal of the delegation’s visit is to be briefedon what is going on in Syria, including the situation of Christians in the region and the international stances towards the current situation in the country.

Asked about the Russian support for Syria, Marianireplied: “No one can refuse an ally in combating terrorism. The Russian role in this field is encouraging. The time has come to see the results.”

He added that the US-led coalition has achieved nothing.

The delegation includes 5 members of the French national Assembly, several businessmen, intellectuals and journalists, some of them representing the French TV 1st channel and the 1st Europe channel.
