Syria’s Ambassador to Iran Shafiq Dayyoub and Chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry in Tehran Mahmoud Najafi Arab on Saturday discussed means of enhancing cooperation in the economic, trade, industrial, agricultural, scientific and investment fields to reach real, objective and qualitative partnership that enhances the strategic relation between the two countries in a way that serves the common interests of people in both countries.
Dayyoub stressed the importance of joining efforts to achieve a qualitative step in the volume of cooperation in all fields in the light of the two sides’ desire to benefit from objective plans that serve the mutual interest of the two countries and the region in general.
The Syrian diplomat indicated the important role of the private sector in Syria and Iran in carrying out important economic projects despite the unfair sanctions imposed on the two sides, hailing the measures taken by the governments of the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations.
Dayyoub noted the facilitations and incentives provided by the Syrian side to attract foreign investors, including the investment law No. 18 and its amendments and exemptions from customs.
For his part, Najafi Arab highly appreciated the facilitations provided to joint work and investment, affirming that his country accords special importance to boosting cooperation and friendship relations with Syria.
“There are many fields of cooperation that need practical steps be taken on the ground to achieve tangible results, given the existence of suitable, diverse and wide environment for investment in both countries.
The two sides agreed on appointing a team of two persons, one form the Syrian Embassy and the other from the Iranian Chamber of Trade, to follow up on what has been discussed and eliminate the obstacle that may face achieving the hoped-for goals.
