Trofimov: Allegations of Russia’s threat to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine are completely rejected

Moscow (ST): Alexander Trofimov, the representative of the Russian delegation to the NPT Review Conference, stressed that allegations of Russia’s threat to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine are completely unrealistic and unacceptable.

Russia Today website quoted Trofimov as saying in a press statement, “We firmly reject the baseless, unrealistic and totally rejected speculations and allegations that Russia threatens to use nuclear weapons, especially in Ukraine,” adding that “we do not rule out that this is done on purpose by other parties  in order to stir up anti-Russian hysteria.”

Trofimov noted that the Russian doctrine is well known and very clear as Moscow “allows the use of nuclear weapons only in response to any aggression using weapons of mass destruction or nuclear weapons against it.”
