Non-Aligned Movement Youth Summit discusses youth empowerment

Syria has taken part in the Youth Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), held between July 25 and 29, 2022, in Baku, the Capital of Azerbaijan.

The summit decided to turn the Non-Aligned Movement’s Youth Network, which was established in 2019, into an international youth organization that adopts NAM’ principles and goals and works to empower the youths in the movement’s 120 member countries.

Ammar Ka’deh, from the National Union of Syrian Students (NUSS), who represented Syria alongside representatives of 61 countries from different continents of the world, said that the summit discussed many youth issues, including empowering the youths politically and socially and engaging them in development plans and decision-making in their countries to help them play their important role in the public life of NAM countries.

According to Ka’deh, the summit dealt with cooperation among NAM countries to exchange expertise on different youth issues and to reactivate NAM’s role at the regional and international arena.

He stressed that Syria’s youths will play an effective role in all development, social and cultural fields and in all international forums.

During his meetings with representatives of the participating countries, Ka’deh reviewed the pioneering role of the NUSS in Syria and talked about Syria’s efforts to empower the Syrian youths and engage them in the country’s political and social life and in defending the homeland against the terrorists and rebuilding what terrorism has destroyed.
