Russian Embassy in Washington: Mistakes of the West are the cause of agricultural products crisis

The Russian Embassy in the United States affirmed that the mistakes made by Western countries in the economic field led to a crisis in agricultural products on the global market, noting that Russia is committed to all export contracts.

“The origins of the global agricultural crisis lie in the systematic errors that occurred in the macroeconomic policies of the Western countries themselves,” the embassy said in a statement published today.

The statement described the statements made by US congressmen Gregory Mix and Michael McCaul, who accused Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov of spreading “disinformation” during his tour in Africa, as “part of the slander campaign directed against Russia and evidence of desperation over the failure to isolate it.”

The statement indicated that Russia is deeply concerned about the current situation in international markets, stressing its determination to “continue to fulfill all its obligations under agricultural export contracts.”

The statement urged the US authorities not to shoulder others with the burden of their mistakes and to take concrete steps to ensure that the Russian food and fertilizer supplies are exempted from the restrictions of direct and indirect sanctions.
