Russia calls on the United Nations to remain neutral in the Ukraine crisis

Moscow (ST): The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the UN Secretariat to remain neutral and help maintain peace and stability regarding the situation in Ukraine.

Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement today: The General Secretariat, contrary to the requirements imposed on it by the Charter of the United Nations, does not stand at an equal distance from events, as is expected from the Secretariat of the most reliable international organization.

Zakharova added: I would like to remind colleagues in the UN General Secretariat that their task is not to take sides in contentious situations, but to contribute to maintaining peace and stability.
