The areas planted with wheat and barley, both irrigated and rainfed, have amounted to more than 500,000 hectares in Hasakeh Governorate.
Officials concerned in Hasakeh Directorate of Agriculture said the cultivation of wheat and barley crops, which began last October, will continue until the end of this month, January, in view of the past two days’ rain falls. The officials there pointed out that good rainfalls encouraged farmers to continue planting their lands with these two crops, especially the rainfed areas, in light of weather forecasts indicating that the Governorate will be subject to rain falls in the near future, which in turn will improve the status of irrigated and rainfed areas.
