A three-day workshop was opened Monday evening to launch the implementation of a strategy to revive the markets of the old city of Aleppo.
The workshop is held by the Governorate of Aleppo with the participation of economic parties and the Syrian Trust for Development at the Sayf al-Dawla school building.
Aleppo Governor Hussein Diyab affirmed the importance of restoring brightness to Aleppo old city after it has suffered from terrorist attacks over years of terrorist war on Syria.
He made it clear that the building of the Sayf al-Dawla school dates back to the 18th century. It was targeted by terrorist attacks during the war and today it is being rehabilitated as it is a key historical, archeological and heritage symbol and a witness to the greatness of the city of Aleppo.
He said that members of the work team in charge of restoring old Aleppo are exerting great efforts to restore the city and recover its position as a beacon of civilization despite the systematic destruction and vandalism it was subjected to.
The workshop is an initiative to reactivate the economic movement and the old markets of Aleppo, given Aleppo’s position as an economic capital and an important attraction for traders from countries of the world, some participants in the workshop said, pointing out that in order to confront the current economic war on Syria, businesses must be reactivated and production and trade must be restored as they were before.
