A French security official admits the existence of French citizens in the ranks of the (ISIS) terrorist organization

Paris(ST):  The Coordinator of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism in France, Laurent Nunez, acknowledged that  a large number of French citizens have joined  the terrorist organization “ISIS” in Syria and Iraq, expressing fear of the return of terrorism to its supporters, which Syria had previously warned about repeatedly.

In an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche, Nunez pointed out that the total number of French who joined the terrorist organization “ISIS” in Syria and Iraq reached 1450 , indicating that “it is assumed that the majority of them died, disappeared, or returned to France.”

Nunez warned of the resurgence of the growth in the capabilities of the terrorist organization “ISIS”, noting that the capabilities of the organization “are secretly formed  and centered in the Syrian desert  and northern Iraq, as its attacks have increased from this region, noting that the terrorists target the Syrian and Iraqi soldiers by setting up ambushes and attacking the local population, forgetting the great support that his country has provided to terrorist organizations in Syria.

Regarding the terrorist organization’s capabilities, he pointed out that the organization still has “a large stockpile of weapons and it knows how to manufacture explosives.Their apparatus in charge of planning external operations is still active.”

Media sources revealed a few days ago that intelligence services belonging to Western countries claiming to be fighting the terrorist organization “ISIS” conducted a series of meetings and agreements with the leaders of the terrorist organization, which has been put on the international terrorism list, and other terrorist organizations to carry out terrorist attacks in Syria.

The French official expressed his concern about the terrorist organization’s tendency to carry out attacks in Europe, especially in France, and said, “We do not rule out attempts by groups abroad to persuade some people who could move to commit operations in France.”

Western countries, especially European countries, are witnessing a state of security alert for fear of the return of terrorism to their lands, especially after terrorist attacks occurred in European cities.
