Zoubi: Efforts to Release all the kidnapped. No one can Disrupt a Constitutional Entitlement

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Information Minister Omran Zoubi stressed that the state is making efforts for the release of all kidnapped.

Zoubi added in a meeting with families of the abducted and displaced persons that kidnapped anywhere in Syria are our people and their concerns are ours.

Brahimi did not respect his mission and no one is entitled to interfere in the internal affairs of the Syrian people

In a telephone call with the Syrian Arab TV today he stressed that the talk of the UN envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, on linking between the ” presidential election, the issue of Geneva and negotiations with some of the opposition abroad does not fall within the functions of the international mediator since it is not his mission to discuss issues of sovereignty related to internal Syrian affairs. “

Zoubi said that it is not Brahimi task to implement the U.S. policy in Syria, noting that the decision on the holding of elections is determined by the competent Syrian authorities according to the constitution, and therefore is inevitably going to happen in line with the Constitution.

” If Brahimi wants to remain a mediator and Geneva conference works to succeed, he should remain committed to his role as an international mediator, to read Geneva statement again and respect his role to be able to follow it up,” Zoubi stressed pointing out that it is required from him to be, ” a neutral and impartial” mediator.

Zoubi pointed out that Brahimi statements ” are consistent with that of the coalition delegation in Geneva, in a way matching perfectly with the delegation and with American policy stated by U.S. officiasl over the past years.”

“Brahimi mission is specific as a broker who tries to find common points and does not impose his opinion, language, nor represent another country like the USA, adding that Brahimi is not entitled nor any government or state or party to interfere in the Syrian internal affairs.
