GAZA – Israeli warplanes attacked tens of targets, including homes in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday destroying them and causing fire, according to WAFA news agency.
Israel launched five airstrikes at locations in the central and southern Gaza Strip, causing serious damage and fire.
The agency said that the strikes came following calls by Israeli official to attack Gaza in the aftermath of a rocket attack on southern [Israel] earlier in the day, which came in reprisal for Israeli attacks on Gaza that killed four Palestinians since Sunday.
Israeli gunboats intercept freedom boat departing Gaza to break blockade
Also on Tuesday, the Israeli occupation army gunboats intercepted a boat carrying Palestinians who attempted to break the 11-year-blockade of the Gaza strip.
According to participants, the boat was headed to Limassol, Cyprus, and was part of a small flotilla comprised of three boats in total.
The two other boats did not breach the naval blockade line enforced by Israel, which is nine miles off the coast of Gaza. However, one boat did and was intercepted by Israel.
The Israeli army detained the 17 individuals who were onboard the freedom boat, who were mainly university students, but also included cancer patients and protesters wounded during the Great March of Return and seeking medical care outside of the besieged Gaza Strip.
The boat was intercepted and towed to the port of Ashdod near Gaza.
The Israeli navy also detained a number of journalists who were onboard a fishing boat to accompany and cover the attempt.
US goes to Security Council to defend ‘Israel’
On the other hand, The United States is calling for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in the wake of what it claims to be “Palestinian aggression against Israel”.
Press TV reported that the American ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, said the meeting should focus on recent mortar attacks allegedly fired from Gaza into ‘Israel’.
This is while the Israeli military has targeted over 30 targets in Gaza Strip.
