Israeli occupation injures 6 Palestinians, arrests over 20 others in the West Bank

OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, April.18, (ST)- Israeli occupation forces on Monday shot and critically injured two Palestinians in al-Yamoun town, west of Jenin, according to security sources.

They said that the occupation forces forcibly entered and ransacked a number of houses in the town as part of a detention raid, triggering confrontations.

The occupation soldiers opened fire towards dozens of Palestinians who attempted to block their passage, hitting two by live ammunition and causing dozens to suffocate from tear gas.

The Health Ministry confirmed that the casualties were hospitalized for critical injuries in the head and neck, according to WAFA News Agency.

Moreover, local and security sources confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces detained at least 16 Palestinians in multiple raids across the West Bank.

They said that the occupation forces rounded up nine Palestinians, including two brothers, after breaking into and searching the houses of their families in Husan village, west of the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem.

In the central West Bank, the occupation soldiers detained four others in multiple raids in Ramallah and al-Bireh district.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

Since the beginning of 2022, Israeli forces have inflicted a campaign of collective punishment on the northern West Bank city of Jenin via violent mass arrest, arresting over 200 of the city’s residents, with 100 arrests taking place in March alone. According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, some 500 Palestinians from Jenin, including three women and around 10 children, are currently in Israeli jails.

Yesterday evening, An Israeli settler ran over a 9-year-old Palestinian child in the town of Taqou to the east of Bethlehem, in the southern occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Sources said that an Israeli settler ran over Hussain Nader Suliman, 9, with his car and fled the accident scene.

The child was transferred to hospital for medical treatment, where his condition was described as moderate.
