Israeli occupation has escalated settlement building activities in occupied Al-Quds during 2020: Palestinian Foreign Ministry

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has stressed that the Israeli occupation, with the full support of the US administration, goes ahead with implementing its settlement plans, particularly in occupied Al-Quds in a bid to Judaize the holy city, eliminate its identity and distort its historical and cultural legacy in preparation to undermine the Palestinian cause.

In a statement reported by the Palestinian Wafa News Agency on Saturday, the ministry said that the occupation’s settlement activities in the holy city have seriously doubled during 2020. It added that the occupation has announced the establishment of thousands of settlement units with the aim of separating Al-Quds from its Palestinian surroundings and undermining any possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state.

The Ministry urged the international community, the United Nations and its relevant bodies to assume their responsibilities in preserving the position of Al-Quds and protecting it from all attempts to Judaize it and change its demographic character as the capital of the State of Palestine.

The Ministry called on the concerned courts, especially the International Criminal Court, to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Palestinian territories.
