Zionist Forces Shoot, Injure Another Palestinian Youth (2)

Zionist military forces have shot and wounded another young Palestinian man in the occupied West Bank as tensions continue to rise between Palestinians and Israeli forces.

The unnamed Palestinian youth was shot on Sunday morning, when he allegedly sought to stab an Israeli trooper near the holy Ibrahimi Mosque in the southern occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron), located 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of al-Quds (Jerusalem).

There were no immediate reports on whether the Israeli soldier sustained injuries.

Earlier in the day, Israeli forces arrested eight Palestinians during a series of raids on a number of houses in the occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

The head of the al-Quds Prisoners’ Families Committee, Amjad Abu Asab, said Israeli military vehicles stormed the Sur Baher neighborhood on the southeastern outskirts of East al-Quds on Sunday.

The Israeli forces broke into dozens of homes and rummaged through them, causing excessive property damage before detaining 8 Palestinians.

On Saturday, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian, who was allegedly armed with a knife, in the West Bank. The victim was reportedly heading from the northern West Bank city of Jenin to Israel, when he was spotted at a checkpoint, shot and killed by Israeli troops.

The development came a day after Ramadan Thawabteh, an eight-month-old Palestinian baby, died after inhaling tear gas fired by Israeli soldiers near his home in the West Bank town of BeitFajjar.

Qassem Mahmoud Sabaneh, 20, and Ahmad Hamada Qneibi, 23, were also killed by Israeli troops on the same day in the West Bank city of Nablus and East al-Quds respectively.

The Palestinian Health Ministry says at least 72 Palestinians, including 12 children, two infants and a pregnant woman, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces since the beginning of October. Some 7,100 others have also sustained injuries.

At least 10 Israelis have been killed and 130 others injured during the same period.

The fresh wave of tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories was triggered by the Israeli regime’s imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.

Palestinians are also angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers, who frequently storm the al-Aqsa Mosque.
