Zionist Forces Detain 14-Year-Old Palestinian, 15 Others in Raids

Zionist forces carried out predawn detention raids across the occupied Palestinian territory on Tuesday, detaining at least 16 Palestinians, including a 14-year-old, Israeli and Palestinian source said.

In the town of Qatanna, located in the Jerusalem province, Israeli forces detained Muhammad Yousif Shamasna, Muhammad Hushiya and Hasan Mustafa Hushiya. Muhammad Omar Abu Romi, 17, was also detained from his house in al-Eizariya, east of Jerusalem, Ma’an reported.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces detained Ahmad Mazin Abu Khdeir, 14, from his house in the Shufat refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem.

Israeli forces also raided the town of Azzun in the Qalqiliya district in the Northern occupied West Bank and detained Muhammad TahirAsayrah, 49.

Baraa Nawwaf al-Amir, 21, was detained in the town of KafrQalil near Nablus after Israeli forces ransacked his house, Palestinian security sources told Ma’an, adding that al-Amir is a law student at Al-Najah National University.

Further North, Israeli forces raided the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarem, detaining Hamza Fathi Qarawi, 30, from his home.

Detention raids were also reported in the district of Ramallah, with Israeli forces detaining four Palestinians, identified as Christiano Sam Zahran, 16, Sayf Rasim Huseein, 17, and Hassan Ahmad Antoush, 16, from the village of Deir Abu Mashal. Hazim al-Qawasmi was also detained in the Umm al-Sharay it neighborhood of Ramallah, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said in a statement.

ImadYousif al-Sheikh, 16, was detained from his house in the village of Marah Rabah south of the city of Bethlehem.

PPS additionally reported a detention raid in Hebron in the southern West Bank, where locals reported that Israeli forces detained ShahirYahya Abu Jheisha.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed 10 detentions, noting an additional two Palestinians detained near Bethlehem for which Palestinian sources did not provide details.

Several Palestinians were detained over alleged “illegal activities,” while at least two were detained over being suspected Hamas operatives, the spokesperson told Ma’an.

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 7,000 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli prisons. The organization estimates that around 40 percent of the Palestinian male population has been detained at some point in their lives.
