Israeli enemy kills correspondent and cameraman for Al-Mayadeen TV Channel

BEIRUT, Nov.21, (ST)- A correspondent and cameraman for Al-Mayadeen TV Channel were martyred today when Israeli barbaric air forces shelled a gathering of journalists in Southern Lebanon.

Lebanese National News agency reported that the channel correspondent ,Farah Omar, cameraman Rabei Al-Maamari, and the civilian, Hussein Aqeel, were killed by the Israeli aircraft shelling which deliberately targeted a journalist gathering point at the intersection of Tair Harfa and Al-Jebbain in southern Lebanon.

Earlier on Tuesday, an Israeli strike killed an elderly woman and injured her granddaughter in the southern border town of Kfar Kila.

In this context, Lebanese figures, parties, and activists strongly condemned the Israeli enemy’s targeting of a media team in southern Lebanon, which led to the martyrdom of a Al-Mayadeen TV correspondent and cameraman, and a Lebanese civilian.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said: “The anniversary of Lebanon’s independence this year coincides with the continuation of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the Lebanese border villages with occupied Palestine, and today the occupation forces targeted the Al-Mayadeen channel staff, which led to the martyrdom of journalist Farah Omar, cameraman RabieAl- Maamari, and citizen Hussein.” Aqeel.”

The Lebanese Army also condemned this Israeli aggression

For his part, former Lebanese President General Emile Lahoud said : “No matter how much they try to hide the truth, it will inevitably emerge through the valor of the resistance fighters, and through covering the facts and the extent of the enemy’s lies through the media that contributed to influencing international public opinion, and this is what the enemy is unable to accept and therefore It directly targets media professionals.”

The head of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party, Asaad Hardan, confirmed that the enemy has expanded its hatred to include media professionals who are responsible for exposing its aggressive crimes, disregarding all international laws and conventions.He pointed out that targeting the Al-Mayadeen media team indicates the enemy’s impudence, arrogance, and violation of all international and humanitarian laws.”

Moreover, the MP Hassan Fadlallah said that what the Israeli enemy had committed is a new crime recorded in its long history against media professionals from Gaza to southern Lebanon, with the aim of silencing the voices that expose its aggression and expose the fragility of its defeated army in the field,” stressing that this the crime will increase our steadfast people and the resistant media’s determination to continue performing their professional and moral duty, and that there is no choice in the face of Israeli brutality but resistance and steadfastness.

The Association of Muslim Scholars in Lebanon also stressed that the Zionist enemy has today added to its series of crimes and violations of international laws, its direct and intentional targeting of press crews at the intersection of Tayr Harfa and Al-Jebin.
